Show of Steel sees off Blackpool runners
The ladies’ race was over 8.1K; the winner for the third year running was Charnwood AC’s Gemma Steel (27:11).
Cardiff Runners’ Charlotte Arter was one second behind as 10 seconds covered the first nine places.

Hide AdThe first BWFAC runner was Emily Japp, who was 49th overall in 29:04 and third in the Mid Lancs League standings.
Forming the rest of the Mid Lancs team were Laura Gilderdale (20th, 35:53) and Bev Wright (24th, 36:00).
Wright, together with Andrea Smith (46th, 38:29) and Karen Dunford (51st, 38:49), were the fourth Vet 35 and second Vet 45 teams.
Alison Titterington was 85th in 42:27 and, together with Smith and Dunford, formed the B team which was 16th.

Hide AdPrior to the senior women’s race, Jess Rogers competed in the Under-20 Cross Challenge race, finishing 62nd in 17:55.
Scottish athlete Andrew Buchart won the senior men’s 9.8K race in 28:37.
The first BWFAC runner was Danny Hayes (34:38) who was 186th overall and 35th in the Mid Lancs League.
Together with men’s captain Andrew Simm (138th, 40:35), Darren Tremble (164th, 41:41), Paul Sparrow (180th, 42:14), Ian Close (272nd) and Alan Wilkinson (287th, 50:16), he was in the team that came 27th.

Hide AdRick Pinches (289th, 51:12) and Simon Scarr (290th, 51:59) were part of the Vet 40 and Vet 50 teams which were 10th and seventh.
The main local road race was the Wesham 10K held on the lanes around Salwick, won by Wesham’s Rob Danson in a speedy 32:01.
First BWFAC finisher was Peter Singleton (99th, 43:24) ahead of Peter Gibson (230th, 52:06), Jeff Wright (318th, 57:31), Victoria Talbot (419th) and Hayley McMahon (450th, 77:30).
At the Best 5K Run for Rory, Michelle Tickle was 23rd and second lady in 21:27, while Howard Henshaw (32:00) was 83rd and first Vet 75.

Hide AdAdam Weightman and Debbie Terras competed in the National Biathlon Championships competition at Solihull.
Weightman was second in the open men’s competition and Terras eighth in the Women’s Masters section.
