Rosler’s men made it 16 unbeaten in League One with a 1-0 win at MK Dons on Saturday. With 13 games left, the table makes pretty reading for Fleetwood fans, whose side are just two points behind second-placed Scunthorpe. It is a far cry from the relegation battle they were embroiled in this time last term. By beating the drop Town usurped Blackpool as the highest-placed side on the Fylde coast, the Seasiders tumbling into League Two. Just six seasons ago, Fleetwood were battling it out in the National League and Blackpool were competing in the highest tier of English football. Fast forward to today and Town are 34 places above Pool in the Football League and pushing for promotion as the business end of the season approaches, with Northampton Town visiting Highbury on Saturday. But Rosler, who guided Brentford to the League One play-off final in the 2012-13 season, is playing it cool and refusing to use the ‘promotion’ word just yet. After the win over the Dons, Rosler reiterated his comments from earlier this month, when he compared staying in the top six to living on Everest – many can make it to the top but not many can maintain it. He again stressed that the club’s target is five more points to take their total to 63 – overtaking the club’s best League One points tally to date. He said: “Remember, up there the ‘luft’ (German for air) is very thin. We have to stay up there. “Let us get 63 points and then we set ourselves a new target.” Cian Bolger’s second-half header clinched all three points at stadium:mk, leaving Rosler a happy – but drained – man. Town followed their home games against Rochdale (0-0) and Bradford (2-1) by hitting the road and making it seven points out of nine. Rosler said: “I was talking for the first time in a while about keeping the run going because I would have taken a point (against the Dons). “I always calculate the block of games – we had four points out of the two home games, which was very good. “Away from home we need to get points to keep the run going. “At MK Dons it was the first time for a while I’d talked about the run – in the previous games I’d talked about performances.”
