Fleetwood head coach Uwe Rosler says new loan signing George Glendon from Manchester City has all the attributes he looks for in a midfielder.

The 21-year-old has joined Town on loan from Rosler’s old club until January, having featured as a triallist in Fleetwood’s final pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic.

Glendon was a star of the Premier League club’s Elite Development Squad last season and has captained City’s Under-21s.

Like fellow new boy Chris Long, who joined Town on a season-long loan from Burnley last Friday, Glendon was not included in the squad for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe.

But Rosler vowed Glendon will have the opportunity to “grow into League football” with Town.

The head coach said: “Glendon is a player I know. We have got him under very good conditions from Manchester City.

“He is not quite ready now to throw him in, especially in a game like Scunthorpe, but we will build him up. I think he has the technical standards and ability I am looking for in a midfield player.”

Town’s new loan signings are both available for tomorrow’s home League One clash against Oxford United.

Rosler said of Long: “Chris is a player who will be very suitable for the way we play. He is fast, he works the line and he is a goalscorer.

“He does not need many chances and he wants to prove himself again.

“He had been out through injury (hamstring) but he had a full pre-season and a lot of minutes in pre-season.

“Every player who comes from (Burnley manager) Sean Dyche is 100 per cent fit, I can promise that.”
