The 23-year-old’s parent club Rotherham United recently triggered a clause in Yates’ contract to extend his deal by 12 months, ensuring they will receive a fee for his services should he depart this summer.

Hide AdAnd Swindon are set to become the first side to test the Millers’ resolve – with manager Richie Wellens revealing the club are preparing an offer for the forward.
Speaking to BBC Wiltshire, the former Blackpool midfielder said: “We’re going to put an offer into Rotherham in the next 48 hours, and we’ll see what Rotherham say.
“But we can only pay what we can pay in the current market.”
Yates, a product of Rotherham’s academy, has made sporadic appearances for the Millers’ first-team during his six years with the club, scoring five times in 44 appearances.

Hide AdHe has also spent time out on loan with Harrogate Railway Athletic, Harrogate Town and Carlisle United.
He scored seven times in 36 games during his season-long loan spell with Carlisle, but he has enjoyed his best season to date by helping Swindon clinch promotion from the fourth tier.
The Seasiders will certainly be keen to bolster their attacking options following the recent departure of top goalscorer Armand Gnanduillet.
In other news, Pool midfielder Jamie Devitt - who has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Seasiders - is attracting interest from former club Carlisle United as well as Bolton Wanderers.

Pool’s club captain recently departed Bloomfield Road after failing to agree terms on a new contract.
