The Cobblers, who were promoted to the third tier via the League Two play-offs last season, had to win at Sixfields today to stand a chance of staying up.
But they were well beaten by the Seasiders, who cruised to a comfortable victory thanks to a Jerry Yates brace and an early Luke Garbutt strike.

“We’ve thrown everything at it but in the end unfortunately we’ve just come up short.
“We haven’t been good enough in certain areas this season, and we’ve fallen short this season with what we have.
“In my tenure we’ve had to find away but if you look at the return from the strikers, it’s not been good enough.

Concentrating on today's game, Brady added: “We had a couple of shouts for a penalty early on and if we get those it could have been a different story.
“I was disappointed with the three goals but Blackpool have recruited well and they are a class outfit.
“We made changes at half-time and we had to go for it but we’d rather have a go than not.
