Blackpool boss Bowyer stunned by chief executive's exit
Speaking ahead of Blackpool’s trip to AFC Wimbledon tomorrow, Bowyer admitted he was taken aback by the unforeseen exit of Cowdy, announced less than an hour after last Saturday’s goalless draw with Bristol Rovers.
“My reaction was one of shock and surprise,” the manager told The Gazette. “I didn’t know it was happening or how sudden it would be, so my reaction was probably like everybody else’s.

When asked if Cowdy’s departure would affect his transfer plans, Bowyer replied: “Not as far as I’m aware, so we just crack on with what we can control.”
Bowyer refused to be drawn when asked by The Gazette if he had full confidence in the club’s new chief executive.
“I spoke to him and just said congratulations,” Bowyer said.

“My remit is the football side, so I couldn’t begin to list you the roles and responsibilities of the CEO at this football club.”
Blackpool and Fleetwood Town have expressed their best wishes for Plymouth Argyle defender Ryan Edwards, 24, who is to undergo surgery for testicular cancer.
Pool manager Gary Bowyer coached Edwards at Blackburn and the player was on loan at Fleetwood in 2012-13.
