Workshop sees nature come to life for pupils
The ‘Zoo To You’ session, held at the North Shore school by staff from Blackpool Zoo, saw youngsters get to grips with a variety of insects and reptiles, including stick insects and blue-tongued skink lizards.
Senior teacher Sue Robinson described the event as a ‘great educational visit.’

Hide AdShe said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and talked about the various creatures they saw and handled.
“The event created a memorable experience for the children as well as stimulating much conversation and some lovely writing, with children using their increasing phonic skills.”
While holding a stick insect, youngster Brooklyn Harding said: “You have to be careful because we are bigger.”
Dylan Pace said: “The cockroach was a little bit tickly on my hand.”

Alex Pittilla asked: “Why does the stick insect stand so still when you hold it?”
Zoo To You sees the popular attraction’s education team deliver lessons using artefacts, live animals, and activities to bring nature and conservation alive. Based in Warbreck Hill Road, Unity is Blackpool’s only all-through school, catering for pupils aged from two to 16.
