Stoptober challenge
Stoptober is a national campaign run by Public Health England to encourage people to get help to stop smoking during October, and is supported by both Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council.
Coun Azhar Ali, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “We’re pleased the number of people who smoke has fallen across Lancashire. However, 21 per cent of our population still smokes, which is higher than the national average.

“They’ll have access to expert advice from medical professionals, a mobile phone app giving handy hints and encouragement, and approved medicines that are proven to help you give up for good.”
