Diane Sutherland, 46, who works at The Willows Care Home, Marton, completed the Run 50 Challenge to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres.
Diane, from Bispham, ran the last mile around the grounds of The Willows, crossing the finish line to cheers, applause and flag waving from residents and staff at the care home.

record her mileage.
Julie Critchmoor, activities co-ordinator at The Willows Care Home, said: “We wanted to make Diane’s last lap special, so we decorated the garden with flags and our residents and staff
cheered, clapped and waved flags encouraging Diane across the finish line.
“We are all so proud of what she has achieved, running 50 miles and raising money for such a good cause.”

“I had done a few workouts at home, but running has definitely improved my health and mental wellbeing, keeping me sane, especially during this latest lockdown.
“When I went out running, I wore my Maggie’s orange vest and this helped spur me on, as I knew I was running for a good cause.”
Diane has so far raised £170 for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres, which first opened in Edinburgh in 1996. There are now 23 centres in the UK to offer support for anything from treatment
side effects to money worries.
