Mayoral Maundy Thursday Service spreads respect message
The popular annual event, which mirrors the Royal Maundy Service, began at 7pm at the church on Rowsley Road.
The Reverend Antony Hodgson, vicar of St Margaret’s, said: “Canon Michael Taylor’s sermon emphasised the importance of the monarchy, mutual respect and public service.

Hide Ad“Comparisons were drawn between the work of the Monarch at a national level and the duties of the Mayor within the locality of Fylde Borough.
“The Mayor Coun John Singleton read two lessons and distributed symbolic chocolate Maundy Money to the children and parishioners.
“Morgan Marshall, of Cheethams School of Music, performed a Bach violin partita.
“Blackpool Male Voice Choir sang a selection of pieces and the veteran jazz trumpeter, Terry Reaney, delighted the large congregation.”
