Thug assaults grandmother in her Blackpool home and tells her 'I hope you die'

Kyle Appleby, 18, was jailed for 26 weeks after admitting assaulting the victim and two counts of criminal damage.
Accusing her of taking his cannabis and grinder, the court was told he hurled abuse before pulling a gas fire from its fitting and hitting walls with a hammer.

Hide AdHe is then said to have told her: "I hope you die in two years."
In a statement, the victim told police: "He preys on my vulnerability and my disabilities. He takes advantage of me.”
In a second incident, Appleby was fuelled by drinking a large amount of whisky. He broke a vacuum cleaner and damaged a door. Police were called after he punched her in the face, causing her nose to bleed.
In all, he committed £540 worth of damage, the court was told.

Hide AdGary McAnulty, defending, said Appleby had a troubled childhood.
The 18-year-old was left in a house on Loftos Avenue, South Shore, without furniture or electricity before his grandmother took him in.
“Now she does not want him,” saidMr McAnulty.
The lawyer added: "He has cut his cannabis use from £70 a week to £10 a week.”
Appleby was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and was made the subject of a restraining order banning him from entering Branstree Road or contacting his grandmother for the next two years.
