A man accused of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) has made his first appearance at court.

Frank Crampsey, 59, of Johnston Street, Blackburn, is charged with failing to comply with a SOPO by being in the company of children under 16 at Blackpool.

The offence is alleged to have taken place between March 1 and 20 this year.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court and opposed bail for Crampsey.

Defence lawyer, Scott Parker, said his client would not indicate a plea to the offence at that stage.

Crampsey was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on April 20 by District Judge Rod Ross, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
