Cannabis campaigner grew drug in bedroom
Kenneth Jay was found cultivating four plants in a tent in a bedroom and had bypassed his meter to get electricity to help their growth.
Jay, a 53-year-old computer engineer, of George Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis and abstracting £1,482 worth of electricity.

Hide AdHe was sentenced to a 12-week curfew from 8pm to 6am and ordered to pay £85 costs with £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police executed a drugs warrant at Jay’s home on June 1 last year.
Patrick Nelligan, defending, said: “The cannabis was only for his own use. He is part of an attempt to legally overthrow the legislation on cannabis.”
