Poundstretcher is closing down its Blackpool store at the former B&Q in Bispham, with a new Aldi expected to take its place.

It comes just four years after the discount store opened its doors at the large unit in Holyoake Avenue in 2017.

A sign has appeared in the store's window confirming its closure, with a closing date set for Friday, February 26.

When it opened in 2017, it became the third Poundstretcher in the resort, but its other two stores have since closed.

The Gazette has asked Poundstretcher whether it has any plans to open a new store in Blackpool.

Its closure is expected to make way for a new Aldi, with the supermarket chain having previously discussed plans for the site with Blackpool Council. The huge 20,000sq ft retail space would be divided into two separate units, with Aldi occupying one of them and another retailer setting up shop next door.
