Halloween wedding display is Blackpool man's most ghoulish so far

And this year Michael, 39, of Warbreck Drive, North Shore, has returned to a theme he first tried out three years ago – a haunted house wedding.

This time he proclaims it to be the biggest and best yet, and the final display will include an old piano, moving animatronic figures and music.

Michael is an enthusiast who has collected illuminated figures from all over the world and he delights in displaying the wonderfully ghoulish characters in his front garden for passers-by to enjoy.

This year’ display features various ghoulish bride and groom figures, creepy bridesmaids and a fiendishly scary mother and baby duo.

The display is already up with 12 figures, but the final four will be added on Halloween itself – Tuesday October 31 and the tableau will be illuminated.

Last year his Halloween display featured sinister clowns, including famous character Pennywise, featured in Stephen King’s famous novel ‘It’

Postal worker Michael said: "I’ve been collecting figures for more than 10 years now.

"The Halloween display has been getting a great reaction so far – buses slow down and people stop and have a look.

"I’ve put up a different display this year, just to vary it, and it’ probably even creepier than last year’s.”

Michael also presents an alternative, festive display in the run-up to Christmas.

He added: "I try and get something new for the collection each year and I've ended up buying some brilliant things from all over the world.

"I must have spent around £10,000 over the years but it has been money well spent - people tell me how much they love it when they go past

"I love coming home and seeing them after a long day at work!”

Some of the objects are so huge it is impossible for Michael to store them in his house and friends keep them for him in their garages.

Michael, who is originally from north London and has lived in Blackpool for 16 years.

He has set up a collecting pot inside the old piano and is this year collecting for two different charities, Cancer Research and the People Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA).
